At Very Well, our services fall into two categories:

“Hands-On” treatments — Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, and Advanced Cupping — are practitioner-led sessions where a trained clinician works directly with your body: reading it, responding to it, making real-time decisions about where and how to intervene. This is ancient medicine, refined by modern research, delivered by skilled human hands.

“Hands-Off” therapeutic technologies — PEMF, Full-Body Red Light Therapy, the Modern Sound Bath, and the Infrared Sauna + Salt Room — are sessions where you rest, and the technology does the work: restoring cellular charge, driving tissue repair, regulating the nervous system, creating deep warmth that keeps healing going long after you leave.

Here’s how our “Hands On – Hands Off” offer works:

  1. Schedule a therapeutic technology treatment on the same day as your acupuncture, massage therapy, or advanced cupping appointment. (Click “Book Now” to schedule, or call us at 410-865-9935 between 9 and 5 of weekdays to schedule.)

  2. You don’t need to do anything special while scheduling. Your hands-off session can come before or after your acupuncture, massage, or cupping appointment. You may schedule more than one hands-off treatment on the same day to stack the health benefits.

  3. Walk-ins MAY be possible, but we prefer you schedule in advance.

  4. Your discount will be applied at checkout. If you schedule a hands-off treatment that you’ve never tried before, your first one will be FREE.

  5. If you’re already a member, or join now, you’ll automatically get an extra 20% off of your hands-off treatments at checkout.

The Rules:

  1. Your free or discounted hands-off treatment MUST occur on the same day as your hands-on appointment. (There will be no exceptions to this.)

  2. Only one free session will be offered, and it must be for a type of therapeutic technology treatment you’ve never tried before.

  3. Your hands-on appointment may be a package session.

Under conditions of stress, an area of the brain called the hypothalamus releases neurochemicals that send a cascade response through the body and nervous system. The nervous system is responsible for activating and deactivating the “fight or flight” response, which triggers tension, increased heart rate, and other symptoms of alarm – which can translate into emotional distress. Acupuncture has been shown to modulate these responses on a physical level.

Further, many modern researchers are coming to understand other aspects of the mind/body connection. There are many situations where, for all intents and purposes, the body acts as the unconscious for the mind. In other words, the body is the mind. Emotions don’t just happen in the brain. They reflect changes in the body’s chemistry and can result in physical sensations. Pain and disease can reflect mental traumas, and mental traumas can be treated with physical interventions, like acupuncture.

Acupuncture is an ancient medicine that that treats conditions in the mind and body simultaneously. At the time of its origins, it was also said to affect the spirit, making it a truly holistic intervention. The original metaphor was that it treats the body’s “qi” (or energy), which runs in specific pathways and points through the body.

There are many theories about how and why acupuncture works, but the most important thing to us at Very Well is that it does. In well over a decade in practice, we’ve helped hundreds of people feel better using acupuncture and supporting herbs, focusing a great deal of those efforts on mental health issues, stress, and other emotional symptoms.
